The Walnut Grove Gators are two wins away from securing a second consecutive Fraser Valley senior boys basketball title.

After beating the Port Moody Blues 78-67 and Abbotsford’s MEI Eagles 93-55 in regional games played in their home gym, the Gators have advanced to the Fraser Valley Quad A semifinal.

The semifinal will pit the Gators against the Gleneagle Talons Friday at the Langley Events Centre. Opening tip-off is 6:45 p.m.

Whichever team comes out on top will face the winner of the other semifinal matchup involving a pair of Surrey teams, the Tamanawis Wildcats and Holy Cross Crusaders. The Fraser Valley Quad A championship game takes place Saturday at the LEC, with an 8:30 p.m. opening tip-off.

If the Gators make it to Friday's title game, this will mark the third straight year that they will vie for a Valley championship.

At the Triple A level last March, they defeated White Rock Christian Academy 73-64 at the Langley Events Centre to win the Fraser Valley crown.

In 2012, the Gators fell 75-57 to the Pitt Meadows Marauders in the Triple A championship game.
