Junior Blaze double up on Chiefs

Langley U16 baseball team leads the league with an impressive 23-2 record

The Langley Junior Blaze continue to cruise, edging the Fraser Valley Junior Chiefs 1-0 in a pitchers' duel and then doubling up the Chiefs 8-4 to sweep the doubleheader.

The wins, which came on Saturday at McLeod Athletic Park,improved Langley to 25-2 in the B.C. Junior U16 Premier Baseball League.

In the opener, Parker Logan went the distance, striking out eight for the shutout victory.

The second game saw Aiden Mordecai pace the offence with three RBIs, while Cole Cantelon, Matthew Poirier and Quintin Nakamura drove in one apiece.

Jake Polancic picked up the win, allowing three runs over 5.2 innings, striking out six along the way.

Langley visits the White Rock Junior Tritons tomorrow (Wednesday) at South Surrey Athletic Park.

The Langley U18 Blaze won their first game of the weekend, but dropped the next three in Seattle Premier Baseball League action.

The Blaze beat Bulldog Baseball 3-1 before failing to hold an early lead in game two and losing 5-4. Both games were played at McLeod Athletic Park.

And on Sunday, the team travelled to Rainer High School and lost 9-0 and 6-3 to Baden Baseball. Langley is 3-7 in the SPL.

The Blaze will look to improve on their B.C. Premier Baseball League-leading 27-7 record as they visit the Whalley Chiefs (15-21) on Thursday at Whalley Park.
