KidSport benefits from local basketball tournament

Prospera Credit Union donates money for every three-pointer made at Langley Events Centre tourney

The tournament was held at the Langley Events Centre on Aug. 15 and 16 with the Islanders defeating SB Battle 100-82 in the championship final. The tournament raised $200 for KidSport with Prospera Credit Union donating $0.33 per three-point basket made, for $100, and Centrecourt, the tournament organizer, matching the donation.

The Islanders took home top spot while KidSport received $200 at the 11th annual Hoopfest basketball tournament.

It was held Aug. 15 and 16 at the Langley Events Centre.

Prospera Credit Union had pledged $0.33 per successful three-pointer with 290 successful shots.

The credit union rounded it up to $100, which was matched by Centrecourt, who ran the tournament, for a $200 total donation.

On the court, the Islanders defeated SB Battle 100-92 in the final.

Elliot Mason earned MVP honours for the winning team, while teammate Tyler Olsen was named an all-star.

Also earning all-star honours were SB Battle’s Clayton Crellin and Gabe Diggs, as well as Let if Fly’s Nick Jhajj and Athelite’s Manny Dulay.
