Kodiaks sit in top spot

Aldergrove holds slim lead over Mission City in Harold Brittain Conference

The Aldergrove Kodiaks saw their modest two-game win streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss to the Mission City Outlaws.

Aldergrove had defeated the Delta Ice Hawks 6-2 on Sept.30 at the South Delta Rec Centre before losing o the Outlaws the following night (Oct. 1) at the Aldergrove Arena.

The mixed results still give the Kodiaks top spot in the Harold Brittain Conference with a record of 3-2-1-1 and eight points, which is one better than the Outlaws, although Aldergrove has played one less game.

Versus Delta, Eric Callegari, Cameron Davitt and Aaron Markin had two goals apiece with Callegari also chipping in a pair of assists.

Griffin Baillie stopped 34 of the 36 shots he faced.

But the Kodiaks penalty kill surrendered three power-play goals the next night in the 5-2 loss.

Jordan Funk and Elvis Jansons — both with the man advantage — tallied for Aldergrove.

John Krentz was tagged with the loss, allowing three goals on 15 shots before giving way to Baillie, who stopped 23 of the 24 Outlaws' attempts.

The final goal was an empty-netter.

The Kodiaks are back in action on Oct. 3 when they visit MSA Arena to face the Abbotsford Pilots.

The team's next home game will be Oct. 8 against the Langley Knights.
