The Langley All-Star 8s had a good showing at a Canada Day weekend little league tournament, finishing second overall in a five-team competition that pitted the local players against Lower Mainland rivals.

To make the All-Star team, players from Langley house teams qualified at try-outs to represent the community against Coquitlam, Whalley, Lynn Valley and Little Mountain.

It all came down to the final match, where the Langley players finished second to Lynn Valley, with the final score 12-8.

The kids worked hard and they had a lot of fun and they represented Langley well,” said head coach Brent Larsen.

Each game started with the singing of the national anthem and introduction of the players, something that visiting teams seemed especially impressed by, Larsen said.
