Langley Broncos ride defence to victory

Football season underway for Langley Minor Football Association

Action began in the Vancouver Mainland Football League on Monday as the Langley Minor Football Association hosted a  slate of games at McLeod Park.

The atom Broncos rode a rock-solid defence to victory as their D came up with a goal-line stand in the dying seconds to defeat the North Surrey T-Birds 18-12.

The junior bantam Langley Outlaws overcame an early deficit — the North Surrey Falcons scored on their first offensive play — to post a decisive 39-8 victory.

The key turning point was on the ensuing kickoff after the Falcons touchdown when Sheldon Gangloff took the kick 79 yards for the touchdown.

A big key in the game was also the offensive line of Owen Jenkins, Ross Baykey, Jayden Couchesne, Nicholas McCrory and Damen Norris, whose physical play set up majors for Gangloff, Riley Hegedus and Azuka Okoli.

And in flag action, the Langley Bandits fell 22-12 to the North Surrey Firebirds.

Vaughn Pinchin scored twice while Jordan Tomica had the other score.

Riley Drybrorough, Colten Buckley had great defensive efforts and the offensive line of Jake Kirby, Zaeden Pleasants, Kirkland Roloff, Rylan Trafford, Tristan Bergeron and Cody Oliver provided good protection.
