The Langley Junior Thunder picked up where they left off on Thursday night.

One night after scoring eight of the final 10 goals to erase an 4-1 deficit after 40 minutes, the Langley junior A lacrosse team struck for seven goals in the opening 21:25 to build an insurmountable 7-0 lead over the visiting Burnaby Junior Lakers.

The game was played Thursday night at the Langley Events Centre.

The Thunder would win 11-5 , and coupled with their 9-6 overtime victory the night before over the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs, now sit at 4-0 and atop the BC Junior A Lacrosse League.

Wednesday’s game was at the Coquitlam Sports Centre and was a battle between two of the top 10 ranked junior A teams in the country. The Adanacs entered the game ranked No. 1 with Langley at No. 7 in the season-opening polls.

The first two periods saw Langley unable to generate much offensively, as they were down 4-1 after 40 minutes.

But the third period and overtime were all Thunder.

The Thunder took their first lead at 5-4 midway through the third before the Adanacs quickly tied things up 43 seconds later. Deadlocked at five for the rest of the regulation, Langley took the lead for good on Dawson Rodin’s overtime goal.

Mitch McDole doubled the lead and Tyson Kirkness made it 8-5 with an empty-net goal. Coquitlam pulled back within a pair with 35 seconds to go, but would get no closer. Ryan Martel put an exclamation mark on the victory with a penalty shot goal, his second goal of the game.

Martel finished with three points while McDole led the offence with a hat trick.

Anthony Kalinich (one goal, one assist) and Mackenzie Rope (one goal) had the other Langley scores while Christian Bosa (two assists), Mason Hicks (one assist) and Quinn Mckitrick (one assist) also found the score sheet.

Goaltender Jake Sundar was outstanding, making 59 saves as Langley was out-shot by a two-to-one margin, 65-32.

Against Burnaby, Nathan Mckeigan (two goals, three assists) and Rodin (one goal, four assists) led the way with five points apiece while Martel (two goals, two assists), McDole (two goals, one assist) and Rope (two goals) all had multi-goal games.

The rest of the offence came from Pearson (one goal, two assists) and Kirkness (one goal).

And in goal, Torin Vanrheenen made 45 stops as the Thunder were out-shot 50-42.

Langley will put its 4-0 record on the line when they travel to Victoria to face the Junior Shamrocks on May 13.
