Langley Olympian swimmers set provincial times

Langley swimmers beat meet records at a recent event.

Members of the Langley Olympians Swim Club were among the top swimmers at the recent Canadian Dolphins New Year’s Invitational meet.

From Jan. 20 to 22, swimmers from nine teams across the Lower Mainland competed at Vancouver Aquatic Centre.

Many of the Olympians placed in the top three in their events, and several achieved new time standards or broke meet records.

Ella Belgica, 10, and Gracie Maryschak and Katie Schroeder, 11, all achieved three AAA Provincial time standards.

LOSC’s Bailey Herbert won the Girls 14 year old aggregate prize for achieving the highest amount of Fina points in any given event.

The LOSC had four swimmers who broke a total of eight meet records:

• Bailey Herbert - Girls 14 year old: 100m Breaststroke (1:12.62), 200m Breaststroke (2:38.04), 400m Individual Medley (4:58.07) and 100m Butterfly (1:04.39).

• Josie Field – Girls 15 year old: 100m Butterfly (1:04.30) and 200m Butterfly (2:21.58).

• Joshua Kim – Boys 15 year old: 100m Breaststroke (1:06.17).

• Hugh McNeill – Boys 13 year old: 1500m Freestyle (17:31.92).
