Langley Olympians pool medals at AAA short course provincials

The Langley Olympians Swim Club came home from the 2017 Swim BC Short Course AAA Age Group Championships with their hands full.

In their hands were 15 medals won over a course of four days, March 2 to 5 in Victoria.

LOSC had 18 swimmers from the team’s national and provincial groups qualify to compete at the top tier provincial swim meet.

When all was said and done, the Olympians won 15 medals (six gold, seven silver and two bronze models).

The Langley club also had 42 swims achieve placings within the top eight.

During the meet, Joshua Kim broke LOSC club records in the boys 15 to 17 year old and senior open categories with his gold medal swims in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events, respectively.

For overall team scores, the Olympians placed sixth out of 42 teams at the meet.

Below is the medal break down for LOSC.

Gold

Joshua Kim (14&15 boys): 100m (1:05.11) and 200m breaststroke (2:20.80) swims. Both are LOSC club records.

Hugh McNeill (12&13 boys): 100m (1:03.24) and 200m backstroke (2:15.22) events.

Josie Field (14&15 girls): 200m butterfly (2:16.24).

Bailey Herbert (14&15 girls): 200m breaststroke (2:35.59).

Silver

Joshua Kim (14&15 boys): 200m Individual Medley (2:08.60), 400m freestyle (4:11.73), and 200m freestyle (1:56.80).

Hugh McNeill (12&13 boys): 1500m freestyle (17:14.20).

Bailey Herbert (14&15 girls): 100m breaststroke (1:11.54).

Piyush Kaul (11 & under boys): 200m backstroke (2:35.97).

Boys 12 & under 4x200m freestyle relay team: Luke Stewart-Beinder, Brayden Herbert, Piyush Kaul and Aidan Erickson (9:45.54 and a new LOSC club record).

Bronze

Hugh McNeill (12&13 boys): 400m freestyle (4:26.81).

Mia Goretic (12&13 girls): 200m backstroke (2:26.71).
