Langley Olympians set club records

The young swimmers competed in a local invitational meet.

The Langley Olympians Swim Club hosted an invitational swim meet at the Walnut Grove Community Centre’s pool, April 1st to 2nd.

Three local swimmers did particularly well in the pool over the weekend.

Isobel McNeill, 10 years old, set club records in the 10 and under girls 400 m freestyle competition (5:24.66), the 100 m backstroke (1:19.39), the 200 m backstroke (2:40.08), and the 400 m individual medley (6:00.41).

Swimmer Bailey Herbert, 14, set a new club record for the girls 13-14 100 m freestyle swim, at 59.70.

A 200 m backstroke time to 2:33.85 and a 400 m freestyle swim of 4:53.89 qualified Mia Goretic, 14, for the Western Canadian Championship qualifier.

The next big event for the Olympians is the Canadian Trials, starting today (Thursday, April 6.)
