Langley Xtreme capture district title

Four local fastball teams qualified for next month’s provincial championships in various age divisions

A trio of Langley Fastball Association squads as well as one from North Langley Diamond Sports have qualified for their respective provincial championship tournaments next month.

The teams earned the right to advance to the provincial tournaments after competing over the weekend at the district 8 championships. The top two teams in each age group moved on.

The championships were held at Abbotsford’s Exhibition Park.

The district features teams from Langley, North Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission.

The Langley Xtreme 95B team defeated the Abbotsford Outlaws to win the U18B division while two other Langley Fastball squads qualified with second-place finishes.

The Langley Rebels lost in the U16B division final to Abbotsford and the Langley Bandits were runner-up to Abbotsford in the U19C division.

The Langley Bandits (below) were joined by Melissa Blanchette, who had to miss the final game of the district 8 championships because of her prom. The Bandits U19 fastball team has qualified for the provincial championships.
