Canada's entry for men's volleyball at next month's World Universiade (FISU Games) will have a strong Trinity Western connection as five members of the team have come through the Langley university.

The FISU Games run July 4 to 19 in Kazan, Russia.

And the volleyball team will feature four recent graduates as well as one current member of the Spartans.

Dan Jansen Van Doorn and Steven Marshall — who graduated this year — and Rudy Verhoeff and Marc Howatson — who graduated in 2012 — are joined by fifth-year Spartan Lucas Van Berkel.

Jansen Van Doorn, a middle blocker, is also a Langley Christian alum.

Of the 18-players named to Canada's initial FISU volleyball team, a dozen will make the final roster which will travel to compete in Kazan.
