Langley’s swim club sends 33 swimmers to Vancouver meet

Many local swimmers achieved personal bests and club records.

The Langley Olympians made a splash at the CDSC New Year’s Invitational Swim Meet that was held at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre on Jan. 19 –to 21.

The Langley Olympians took a total of 33 swimmers and placed a total of 122 times with many swimmers beating their personal best times and broke 12 meet records.

Bailey Herbert placed first in all nine of her events this weekend and broke eight meet records which include the women’s 200 meter individual medley, women’s 200m butterfly, women’s 200m freestyle, women’s 400m individual medley, women’s 200m breaststroke. She placed first, broke meet records and had improved times in the women’s 100m backstroke with a time of 1:06.19, women’s 100m butterfly with a time of 1:03.58, and the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:24.75. She also placed first in the women’s 100m freestyle.

Hugh McNeill placed in eight of his events this weekend and broke two meet records. He placed first in five events, the men’s 800m freestyle, the men’s 50m backstroke, and the men’s 400m individual medley. He also placed first and broke the meet records in the men’s 200m backstroke and the men’s 100m backstroke. He also placed second in the men’s 200m freestyle, the men’s 50m freestyle and the men’s 400m freestyle.

Demetra Sicoli placed in all seven of her events. She placed first in the women’s 200m freestyle with a time of 2:13.43 and the women’s 400m individual medley with a time of 5:15.25. She placed second in the women’s 200m butterfly with a time of 2:23.28 the women’s 100m freestyle and the women’s 100m butterfly with a time of 1:05.44. Sicoli placed third in the women’s 50m freestyle with a time of 28.68 and the women’s 400m freestyle with a time of 4:35.90.

Josie Field placed in five out of her seven events. She placed first and broke the meet record in the women’s 200m butterfly with a time of 2:19.69 and she placed first in the women’s 100m butterfly with a time of 1:04.40. She placed second in two events, the women’s 200m backstroke with a time of 2:22.76 and the women’s 400m freestyle with a time of 4:24.19. Field place third in the women’s 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:55.69.

Ayush Kaul placed in five of his events. He placed first in the men’s 100m backstroke with a time of 1:03.68. He placed second the men’s 400m individual medley with a time of 5:07.43. He placed third in three events, the men’s 800m freestyle with a time of 9:35.47, the men’s 200m freestyle with a time of 2:08.56 and the men’s 100m freestyle with an improved time of 2:52.52.

Dylan Thomas placed in five of his events this weekend. He came second in four events, the men’s 800m freestyle with an improved time of 9:08.90, the men’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:15.06, the men’s 400m individual medley with an improved time of 5:02.94 and the men’s 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:41.95. He also came third in the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 1:00.62.

Mia Goretic placed in five events. She placed second in three events, the 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 18:43.87, the women’s 100m backstroke with a time of 1:11.94 and the women’s 400m individual medley with a time of 2:13.71. She also placed third in two events, the women’s 200m freestyle with a time of 2:13.71 and the women’s 200m breaststroke with a time of 3:02.01.

Joshua Kim placed in four of his events this weekend. He placed first in the men’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:14.72 and broke the meet record. He also placed second in three other events, the men’s 200m individual medley with a time of 2:28.21, the men’s 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:42.93 and the men’s 200m backstroke with an improved time of 2:30.67.

Pearl Schramm placed in four events. She placed second in the women’s 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 19:13.14, the women’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:21.74 and the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:53.88. She also placed third in the women’s 100m backstroke with an improved time of 1:17.43.

Sophia Adrain placed in two events. She placed first in the women’s 200m butterfly with a time of 2:24.47. She also placed third in the women’s 1500m freestyle with a time of 19:17.24.

Reese Blunden also placed in two events this weekend. She came first in the women’s 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 18:44.11. She also placed third in 400m individual medley with an improved time of 5:29.56.

Milana Solar placed in two events. She came second in the women’s 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 19:26.97. She also placed third in the women’s 200m backstroke with a time of 2:39.04.

Emily Manley placed third in the women’s 100m backstroke with a time of 1:12.94.

Madison Belgica placed in all nine of her events this weekend, placing first in seven of those events. She placed first in the women’s 100m freestyle, the women’s 200m individual medley, the women’s 200m butterfly, the women’s 400m individual medley, the women’s 100m butterfly, the women’s 50m freestyle and the women’s 400m freestyle. She also placed second in the 100m breaststroke and the women’s 200m backstroke.

Gracie Maryschak placed in all nine of her events and clocked her best times in all of her events. She placed first in the women’s 100m backstroke, the women’s 200m butterfly, the women’s 400m individual medley and the women’s 100m butterfly. She placed second in the women’s 800m freestyle, the women’s 200m butterfly, the women’s 200m backstroke and the women’s 400m freestyle. She also came third in the women’s 50m freestyle.

Katelyn Schroder placed first in seven of her events. She placed first in the women’s 800m freestyle, the women’s 200m individual medley, the women’s 200m freestyle, the women’s 200m backstroke, the women’s 100m freestyle, the women’s 50m freestyle and the women’s 400m freestyle.

Tyler Friesen placed in seven of his events. He placed first in the men’s 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 19:14.72, the men’s 400m individual medley with an improved time of 5:39.93 and the men’s 400m freestyle with an improved time of 4:45.78. He also placed third in four events, the men’s 200m individual medley with a time of 2:39.90, the men’s 100m breaststroke with an improved time of 1:23.90, the men’s 200m freestyle with an improved time of 2:17.67 and the men’s’ 200m breaststroke with an improved time of 3:01.86.

Luke Stewart-Beinder placed in six of his events. He placed first in the men’s 800m freestyle with an improved time of 9:31.54 and also in the men’s 50m freestyle with an improved time of 27.78. He also placed second in the men’s 100m backstroke with an improved time 1:11.18, the men’s 200m freestyle with an improved time of 2:12.31, the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 1:00.67 and the men’s 400m freestyle with an improved time of 4:44.03.

Piyush Kaul placed in four events. He came second in the men’s 100m backstroke with a time of 1:12.68 and also in the men’s 100m butterfly with an improved time of 1:11.10. He came third in the men’s 1500m freestyle with a time of 21:19.15 and in the men’s 400m individual medley with a time of 5:47.47

Aida Erickson placed in three events. He placed second in the men’s 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 20:24.96 and also in the men’s 200m butterfly with an improved time of 2:43.43. He also placed third in the men’s 100m butterfly with an improved time of 1:13.16.

Danika Bedard placed in two events this weekend. She placed first in the women’s 800m freestyle with a time of 10:23.48. She also placed second in the women’s 100m freestyle with an improved time of 1:05.32.

Daniel Hai placed in two events. He came second in the men’s 100m butterfly with a time of 1:37.47 and third in the men’s 100m backstroke with an improved time of 1:25.69.

Brayden Herbert placed in two events. He placed second in the men’s 200m breaststroke with an improved time of 2:51.05 and he also placed third in the men’s 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 19:57.78.

George Matheos placed in two events this weekend. He placed second in the men’s 1500m freestyle with an improved time of 19:08.90. He also placed third in the men’s 400m individual medley with an improved time of 5:43.79.

Sevi Parr placed second in the women’s 200m butterfly with an improved time of 2:53.68.

Sam Stewart-Beinder placed third in the men’s 100m butterfly with a time of 1:43.17.
