Mandur caps off victory with eagle on 18th hole

Langley's Pagoda Ridge hosts top young golf talent as MJT Lindsay Kenney Classic tees off

Two of the divisions were tight races while three other age-group winners ran away with their respective titles at the MJT Lindsay Kenney Classic at Pagoda Ridge Golf Course over the weekend (April 25 and 26).

Tristan Mandur (Mill Bay) won the low overall and juvenile boys (15/16) title after an eagle on the 18th hole capped of a final round 68.

The 16-year-old had shot an opening round 73 and finished the two-day tournament at the Langley golf course with a 141, five shots ahead of second place.

The win also secured him a shortlisted spot for the IMG Academy junior world championships in San Diego this July.

Victoria Liu (Vancouver), Susan Xiao (Surrey), Vivian Lee (New Westminster), Brycen Ko (Richmond) and Raymond Li (Vancouver) also earned shortlisted spots for their respective age groups.

Liu, 12, shot rounds of 75 and 85 to run away with the girls 14 and under title, winning by 11 strokes.

Xiao, 13, shot an opening round 72 and then a 74 to to beat Lee by one stroke in the girls division.

The peewee boys 12 and under division was dominated by the 11-year-old Ko who won by 11 strokes (77-74—151).

And the bantam boys 13/14 division was won by the 14-year-old Li, who shot 75 and 73 for a 148, six strokes ahead of second place.

Among Langley golfers, four cracked the top 20.

Andy Jang was tied for fourth in the bantam boys while Andy Kim was tied for fourth in the juvenile boys. Daniel Hyun was seventh in the juvenile boys.

And Anastasia Stolzenberg was 19th in the girls division.
