Quarterback Owen Sieben ran for four touchdowns while Troy Edwards rushed for a pair of scores as the North Langley atom Bears opened the football season with a 38-20 victory over the Mission 9’ers.
The game was played Saturday at McLeod Athletic Park.
Ty Gallinger added a two-point convert to round out the scoring.
Mission was pressing to get closer in the fourth quarter, but Kayden Bell sealed the victory with an interception.
Manny Fotiou also had a solid game for the defence.

Led by player of the game Jaxon Stebbings, the North Langley Bears peewee football team opened their season with a tie.
Stebbings, the team’s quarterback, passed for one touchdown and threw another in an 18-18 tie versus the Chilliwack Blue Giants.
The game was played on Saturday at Chilliwack’s Townsend Park.
Stebbings connected with Mathieu Gale for one touchdown, and kept the ball himself to score on a 21-yard run on another. The Bears third touchdown was courtesy of Jordan Williams, who ran the ball in from the two-yard line.
Williams’ touchdown came in the fourth quarter with his team trailing 18-12.
And the Bears had a chance for the victory late as Gale came up with an interception. North Langley drove all the way to the Chilliwack 25-yard line, but on the game’s final play, they were held to no gain.
Marcus Stang had a solid game for the Bears, both running the ball and giving his team good field position with his kick-off returns.

The North Langley Bears came out on the short-end of a defensive battle, falling 8-6 to the Mission 9’ers.
The two junior bantam football rivals squared off on Saturday at McLeod Athletic Park.
Both teams scored one touchdown — North Langley’s Ethan Bernardin scored on a 95-yard run in the third quarter — but the difference was Mission’s defence recording a safety on the game’s first play.
The Bears had chance for the victory late but Brandon Brynjolfson was tackled just shy of the end zone.
Brynjolfson also helped the stingy North Langley defence as he delivered a leaping, touchdown-saving tackle.
The defence came up with two turnovers, an interception from Ronil Chand and fumble recovery from Ben Pascoe.
Carols Redekopp, Vincent Paulicelli and Dakota Jenkins also came up with some big tackles, including a massive 19-yard quarterback sack from Jenkins.
