On a sunny Saturday afternoon on Nov. 18 at MacLeod Athletic Park, the North Langley Kodiaks hosted the Victoria Spartans with a berth to the BCCFA Provincial Championships on the line.

Both teams’ defence came to play early with the Kodiaks getting key quarterback sacks by Mason Block and Eric Bouma. The first quarter ended with no score on the board.

During the second quarter the Kodiaks’ Darius Penner rushed for another quarterback sack resulting in a two point safety. To rub salt in the wound, Luke Chalk ran the ensuing Spartan kick off back for a touchdown. Charlie May kicked the convert and the Kodiaks took a 9-0 lead. May would later add a 42 yard field goal to bump the score to 12-0.

The third quarter was dominated again by both defenses with Mason Block leading the way for the Kodiaks with another quarterback sack.

The final quarter saw the Kodiaks pull away for good as their offense finally broke through the stubborn Spartan defense, with Austin Balzer running a quarterback sneak for a touchdown and Drey Blair adding another touchdown to seal the deal, finishing the game with a final score of 26-0.

The Kodiaks will battle the North Surrey Bears for the 12 man Midget Provincial title in two weeks on Dec 3rd at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam.
