The D.W. Poppy Redhawks defeated Maple Ridge 1-0 in the championship finals of a soccer tournament at Kwantlen Park on Friday.
The Poppy Grade 8/9 girls soccer team went 4-0-1 to take top spot in the junior girls event, including defeating the Poppy junior team 2-1 in the semifinals.
The Redhawks went 2-0-1 in the round robin, tying Maple Ridge 2-2 in the opening game, and then defeating Fraser Heights 3-1 and Archbishop Carney 3-2.
In league play, Poppy leads the Fraser Valley East Division with a perfect 4-0-0 mark and four games to play until the Fraser Valley championships begin.
