Trailing 4-1 through three innings, the Langley Senior Blaze pulled off the come-from-behind victory. The Blaze added runs in both the top of the fourth and fifth innings and then scored twice in the seventh and final inning to complete the 5-4 comeback over the Coquitlam Angels.
The two senior men's baseball teams were playing in the championship final for the Pacific Metro Baseball League on July 25 at Robert Burnaby Park in Burnaby.
Langley advances to the provincial championships in Prince George beginning on Aug. 3.
The Blaze loaded the bases in the seventh with one out. Tyler Willson then scored Graig Merritt with an RBI single to tie the game, and then following the second out, Scott Webster scored on a wild pitch.
Dillon Reynolds took the mound in the bottom of the seventh and had a one-two-three inning.
He was one of four Blaze pitchers who worked the game as Ryan Eiswerth, Aaron Dick and Keenan Takatch all worked two innings.
Jesse Peters hit a second inning solo home run for the Blaze as well as another RBI in the fourth.
Langley's other run came in the fifth on an RBI triple from Ricky Alvernaz.
Both Willson and Merritt scored twice in the game.
Langley finished the PMBL league on a 10-game winning streak. They also play in the Pacific International League, where they finished second with a 14-6 record. Overall, including exhibition play, the team is 36-17.
