Langley bantam football team starts season with loss to North Surrey

The Langley bantam Mustangs season began with a 55-6 loss to the North Surrey Tigers over the weekend.

The team’s lone score came after cornerback Damon Minhas picked off a Tigers’ pass. A few plays later, quarterback Jaxon Russell connected with Adam Rodenstein on a 55-yard pass-and-run play for the score.

Rodenstein also led the defence with eight tackles, while Joe Nickel had five tackles and Stryker Roloff and Josh Fletcher with four apiece.

Nathan Godard (30 yards), Brodie Thomas (20 yards) and Rodenstein (20 yards) led the Mustangs ground game.

The kicking game was also efficient, with Nickel averaging 35 yards on his five punts while Fletcher averaged 40 yards on three kickoffs.
