Some familiar faces are joining the Langley Rivermen for the 2015/16 season.
On Monday, Langley’s junior A hockey team announced that Cam Ginnetti (1998 birth year), Braydon Barker (1996) and Trevor Ayre (1998) committed to the Rivermen.
“We’re excited to have three more great young players suit up in a Rivermen jersey,†Rivermen head coach and general manager Bobby Henderson said. “All three spent time with us at some point last season as call-ups and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can do this season.â€
Ginnetti spent last season with the Grandview Steelers of the Pacific International Junior Hockey League (PIJHL).
The defenseman played 32 games and scored 18 points along with 30 penalty minutes.
Ginnetti was called up and played in four games for the Rivermen when the team was missing some healthy bodies on the back end.
“Cam filled in nicely for us last season,†Henderson said. “He’s very steady and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes and can chip in on the offensive end when he needs to.â€
Barker, 18, played in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) before being acquired by the Rivermen late in the season.
The centre scored 33 points in 38 games with the Columbia Valley Rockies.
He also played in two regular season games with the Rivermen, scoring two goals as well as playing in all six playoff game, finishing with one goal.
“Braydon sees the ice very well and is very calm with the puck,†Henderson said. “He stepped in and didn’t miss a beat, especially in the playoffs.â€
Ayre spent most of last season with the Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget League where he scored 55 points in 40 games, including 20 goals.
The forward suited up for five games with the Rivermen last season.
“Trevor has a knack for being near the puck, especially in the offensive zone. He’s got great hands and hope he can add some more scoring punch to our offense this season,†Henderson said.
All three players will be reporting to Rivermen training camp in August.
