Two North Langley teams playing in championship finals

Both the atom and junior bantam Bears face Abbotsford in this weekend's league finals

A pair of North Langley Bears football teams are through to the league championship games in their respective divisions.

The atom Bears trailed 13-12 at the half but scored the game’s final 18 points to win 30-13 on Saturday night at McLeod Park against the Meadow Ridge Knights.

Marcus Stang ran for four touchdowns, including a 70-yard kickoff return.

Mathew Aasen, Jaxon Stebbings, Chris Morrison and Jedakai Hurley all made big tackles for the defence while Jacob Evans recovered an onside kick from Tyson Hoy.

Jun McLean, Mathieu Gale and Brian Pol all had some big runs to help North Langley control the clock.

The junior bantam Bears defence pitched a shutout, defeating the Abbotsford White Falcons 37-0 at McLeod Park on Saturday.

The first half was a defensive struggle with the Bears up 6-0 thanks to a 50-yard touchdown run on a reverse from Pablo Wigwigan.

But the second half was all North Langley as Zander Bailey scored on three long runs of 50, 62 and 105 yards. Wigwigan also added his second score of the game.

James Limoges led the defense with several key stops.

Both North Langley teams face Abbotsford on Saturday with the winners capturing the Valley Community Football League championship in their respective age groups.
