The G-Men couldn't pull out a victory against the Royals thus far - not in Langley Friday, not Saturday in Victoria. How about Sunday?

Giants lost 7-1 in Victoria Saturday night

The Langley-based Vancouver Giants lost 7-1 to the Victoria Royals on Saturday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Vancouver Island.

But it wasn't without some positive moments for the G-Men. David Tendeck made 26 saves in the Giants’ net while Jordan Borstmayer scored Vancouver’s only goal.

In fact, Borstmayer opened the scoring for the Giants in the first period when he tipped an Alex Kannok-Leipert point shot between the legs of Victoria goaltender Griffen Outhouse. Matthew Phillips equalized for the Royals before the end of the frame, beating Tendeck on a shot from the slot.

The Royals bagged four goals in a row in the second period as Dante Hannoun scored twice while Phillips netted his second of the evening and Carter Folk beat Tendeck as well.

Ethan Price and Scott Walford scored in the third period.

The Giants went 0-for-3 on the power play. Six of Victoria’s seven goals were scored at even strength. The Royals out shot the Giants 33-26.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday in Victoria at 5:05 p.m.

Vancouver’s next home game will be on Friday against the Calgary Hitmen at the Langley Events Centre. Face-off will be at 7:30 p.m.
