Warriors, Timbermen set to battle in championship series

Langley senior B lacrosse team has home-court advantage for West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association championships

All that stand in the way of the Langley Warriors and the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association provincial championship is the Nanaimo Timbermen.

The two senior B lacrosse teams finished one-two during the regular season with Langley earning first place thanks to a sparkling 11-2-0-1 record and 23 points. Nanaimo — who won both the league and the playoff title in 2015 — was not far behind at 9-4-0-1 and 19 points.

The two squads also have history as the Timbermen defeated the Warriors in last year’s semifinal series.

Langley is coming off a three-game sweep of the North Shore Indians in the semifinals with the Warriors winning 12-1, 7-6 and 6-4.

The best-of-five championship series gets underway on Saturday (Aug. 6) at noon at the Langley Events arena bowl.

Game two will be the next day in Nanaimo at the Nanaimo Ice Centre with game three back at the LEC next Thursday (Aug. 11) at 7 p.m. Game five, if necessary, would be Aug. 14 at the LEC.

The Warriors are going for their first provincial title since joining the league in 2009.

The winner will represent B.C. at the President’s Cup in Leduc, Alta.
