Canuck Place is getting an infusion of cash thanks to a pair of Langley twins and their supporters.

For several years in a row now, Chris and Jamie Ruscheinski have been hosting a photo session with Ol’ St. Nick, called Rad Santa.

This year’s four-hour event raised $7,300, every cent of it going to the children’s hospice in Abbotsford.

The event was twice as busy as last year, Chris said, noting people were waiting in line for at least an hour to get to see the Big Guy.

He believes there were easily a thousand people who attended this year’s Rad Santa, with about 300 kids getting pictures on Santa’s knee, as well as 50 dogs and 10 cats getting photos taken with Mr. Claus.

“It was pretty wild this year,” Chris added, noting that he and his brother went up and down the lines apologizing and thanking people for their patience and handing out hot chocolate and candy canes.

While he doesn’t expect the line ups will subside in future, the pair – who run the Twins Cancer Fundraising – are hoping to set up more activities, games, and vendors for the awaiting audience.
