Check out that cutie, said one coworker oggling a new firefighter calendar that just came out this week.
She was actually talking about a “kitten,” not the firefighter holding it.
Once again the Township of Langley Firefighters’ Charitable Society (TLFCS) has produced a non-traditional firefighter calendar.
This one partially benefits the Langley Animal Protection Society, and features a mix of firefighters with their own pets and animals up for adoption at the Patti Dale Animal Shelter, explained firefighter and calendar organizer Steve McLay.
“This is our second year where we have partnered with LAPS on our calendar,” he explained, noting they printed 1,500 calendars last year, and raised almost $10,000 – a quarter of which went to the animal shelter and the rest that went to TLFCS causes.
“The response from the public has been great,” said McLay, who is featured – all be it small – in this year’s calendar.
“We do have some people disappointed they aren’t the classic [firefighter] calendar, but change their minds once they see the photos with the pets,” he said.
In addition to the efforts of the firefighters and the team at LAPS, McLay noted that Duolynx Design and Print did all the printing and editing for the posters, while all the picture taking was once again donated by Trav & Ash Photography.
The calendars are available for sale at Shoppers Drug Mart stores throughout Langley.
And at only $10 each, it’s a great stocking stuffer for any animal lover, McLay said.
“It’s a great way for us to help support LAPS and our charitable society.”
