Otter Co-op and Angry Otter Liquor will once again be the title sponsor for the Rotary Club RibFest in Langley this summer.

Otter stepped up for the second year running to support the three-day charity festival that will be taking place at McLeod Athletic Park on Aug.16, 17, and 18.

Seven years ago, the various Rotary Clubs in Langley kicked off what is now one of the community’s largest and most popular events as a way to raise money for local charities and causes, while also creating a festival that brings people together.

Last year, more than 44,000 people attended RibFest (up from the previous year’s record of 37,000), and it’s expected to be even bigger this year, predicted Jack Nicholson, CEO of Otter Co-op and Angry Otter Liquor.

“With the over $171,000 that the Rotary Clubs of Langley were able to raise for community organizations and service projects as a result of RibFest, our team is proud to support such an important and impactful event in our community,” Nicholson said, explaining how and why his team is excited to take on the title role again.

RibFest chair Rick Davis expressed gratitude to Otter Co-op and Angry Otter Liquor for the partnership.

“Without them we could not continue to offer free admission, entertainment, and fun for all ages,” Davis added.

Langley Ribfest is a free event that attracts tens of thousands of visitors from throughout the Lower Mainland each year to partake in the live music, mouth-watering ribs, a large kids zone, and wide selection of beverages.

“If there is one event for the whole family this summer, this is it. Come join the fun again or attend for the first time to see why it is one of the biggest, most loved traditions in the Lower Mainland,” enthused Davis, noting more details about the events are expected to come out in the coming weeks.

“RibFest Langley applauds the efforts of Otter Co-op and Angry Otter Liquor for their support of charity events, such as ours, and dedication to giving back to the community,” he said.

In fact, their commitment goes all the way up to the CEO, Nicholson, who can often be found as a volunteer pouring beverages for attendees in the Rotary tavern.

“Otter Co-op’s support for the Langley RibFest reinforces their commitment to the community and joins the over $400,000 they invest in local community organizations, sponsorships, and causes annually,” Davis said, noting Angry Otter Liquor stores have also sponsored the beer garden (now site-wide) within the event since its inception in 2018.

RibFest is a charity event organized by members of all the Langley Rotary Clubs, with 100 per cent of all proceeds from the event go to charities and service projects.

Organizers are still looking for further event sponsors, and encourages those interested to reach out through the event website at: www.ribfestlangley.com.
