S+L Kitchen & Bar in Willoughby has proven such a success, according to its owners, that it has prompted them to duplicate the recipe in Abbotsford.

Joseph Richard Group will be launching its second edition of S+L on Sumas Way in Abbotsford this fall, announced CEO Ryan Moreno.

“S+L Langley has been successful largely because we have been able to attract our dedicated group of guests who have become familiar with our brand through our other locations,” Moreno said.

“We pride ourselves on providing a first class guest experience at any of our restaurants; S+L has continued that while offering a new concept and menu,” he said.

Its menu offers everything from Wagyu steak to mac and cheese sticks while providing a variety of beverage options featuring an array of craft beer and unique craft cocktails.

“The idea was to create a dining experience that can be enjoyed by guests young and old,” said Moreno, who added that he is excited to see the brand expand into a familiar market.

JRG already has a Townhall Public House on 64th Avenue in Langley and Abbotsford. They also operate the Oak & Thorne pub in Walnut Grove.

Kids given kitchen

Speaking of being creative in the kitchen, children at Langley Montessori Early Learning Centre have been presented with a unique kitchen, thanks to Envision Financial.

Members of the Langley-based credit union’s leadership team built what they called a mud pie kitchen as a team-building exercise.

When it was all done, they chose to donate the kitchen to the kids.

That’s a fun and rewarding little project.

Is Sobeys coming?

And more along the subject of food, some pretty extensive renovations are underway at the Canada Safeway store on 200th Street – across from the recently renamed M&M (Meat) Food Shop.

Is this indications that the new parent company, Sobeys, is going to be rebranding the store? If so, this will be one of the first retail grocery stores in B.C. to make the switch.

We’ll keep you informed.
