A private single release party is slated today for pop-country’s Me and Mae, a band started by and featuring Walnut Grove’s own Shawn Meehan.

The band, which released its debut album (Love Me Leave Me Lonely) two years ago, is preparing to release a new single, Feel Good Feelin’ this week in Surrey.

The band, currently in the midst of Western Canada tour, will spend much of the next few weeks in Alberta and rural B.C., will perform in Vancouver June 25, then spend the summer at a few B.C. festivals, before heading south this fall.

The band is made up of Meehan, as well as Colette Trudeau, Adam Reid, Ben Parker, and Joe Fazio.

The quintet of musicians has “forged a reputation,” said manager Clyde Hill, as “the band to watch on the Canadian country music scene.”

It started with the single Love Me Leave Me Lonely, which Meeham co-wrote with Carly Rae Jepson, who at the time was his guitar student.

The release of the band’s debut album, off the Rails, in May of 2014 was quickly followed by a Nashville tour and a nomination for Top Country Best New Artist (2014) and a win at the BC Country Music Awards of the Ray McAuley New Horizon award.
