In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Fort Gallery is hosting Postcards from Canada, an exhibit of original postcard-sized works of art from across Canada.
The show, which opened Wednesday, will continue until July 16.
“Postcards will be physically hung in the gallery, and auctioned off online,” explained gallery manager Margaret Campbell.
All proceeds will be donated to Canadian Feed the Children First Nations nutrition program.
“The gallery’s mailbox has been full to bursting in the last several weeks,” she said.
“We’ve received postcards from all corners of Canada; from Burns Lake, B.C. to Orillia, Ont. and Gatinau, Que. We’ve even received one from a Canadian artist living in Florida,” she explained.
Postcards from Canada is the result of a call to artists the gallery posted a few months ago, asking artists of all ages and stages to send us their postcard-sized original works of art, Campbell said.
“ We’ve had a great response and it looks like it will be a full exhibit.”
A show reception will be held in conjunction with the July’s First Thursday community arts event, on Thursday, July 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fort Gallery, 9048 Glover Rd. Info: 604-888-7411 or fortgallery.ca.
The Fort Gallery is a community-based artist collective located in Fort Langley.

In the meantime, the FLAGstop Gallery at the historic CN train station in Fort Langley is also celebrating Canada Day.
The artists group is taking part in a Canada Day passport stamp program that encourages participants to visit eight partner locations within the village. Those who complete the passport, are entered to win a $250 gift basket, including an original piece of art from FLAG.
The gallery is open Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, noon to 4 p.m. throughout the summer.
