Over and above Langley’s ER expansion, foundation generates needed money

Saturday’s gala was all about equipment, not the upgraded ER – yet.

Fraser Health announced at the end of March that Langley will be getting a new and much larger emergency ward, and they could break ground as early as fall 2018.

While the designing and planning for this new $30-million facility is still in the works, the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation is gearing up for a fundraising campaign to dwarf all others in their history.

While Fraser Health is reportedly kicking in about $20 million, the foundation will be expected to fundraise for at least $10-11 million.

But that campaign, foundation board chair Deanna Horn said, is still a ways off.

For now, she said, the focus is on raising $1.3 million for equipment – tools needed in every corner of the hospital.
