It’s been 20 years since Karen Lee Batten rose to fame as a top 10 finalist on Canadian Idol, but it’s all her work on and off stage in the country music industry since then that is garnering the Langley singer attention and accolades now.
Batten is once again up for a series of awards from the BC country music industry, this time shortlisted for the fans choice award and interactive artist of the year, as well as a few industry awards for her work with KLB Entertainment.
She’s nominated for business professional of the year, she is in the running for the Don Adams industry support award, and she shares in the country event of the year nomination for Gone Country (for her work with fellow Langleyites Jamie and Chris Ruscheinski and the Twins Cancer Fundraising).
“There will never be a day where I am not completely humbled by being nominated for what I love to do,” she said, thanking those who voted for her.
Over time, she’s been crowned BCCMA’s female artist of the year – eight times, in fact – plus collected a plethora of other provincial and national accolades.

“Thank you to the BC Country Music Association for their support for so many years. I love this community, and all we do together to keep live music alive,” Batten shared.
The 46th annual BCCMA awards night is being hosted Sunday, Nov. 5 at the River Rock Casino Resort, where Karen Lee Batten and a few other area country musician – including Cloverdale’s JoJo Mason – will find out how they stacked up in 2023.
