A large police presence was on scene in the area of 41st Avenue and 204th Street late Saturday night.

One man was stabbed and police are still trying to find a suspect after a Saturday night party went badly wrong in Brookswood.

Police were called in at about 11:05 p.m. to reports of the stabbing, said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

One man was taken to hospital and required surgery, but as of Monday morning he is expected to survive his injuries.

The party was taking place in a home in the 20300 block of 41st Avenue. Largy said that a great deal of alcohol had been consumed before police arrived.

There have been no arrests and no weapon has been located, Largy said.

The area was the scene of an intense police response on Saturday.

A helicopter circled the area for some time, and the street was behind police tape that night.
