It was a rough weekend for the Langley-based Vancouver Giants, as they lost three games, back-to-back – two in Alberta and one in the Kootenays.

The first defeat came Friday in Red Deer, when they lost to the Rebels 3-2.

Matt Barberis and Radovan Bondra had the Giants’ goals. Ryan Kubic made 21 saves in the Vancouver net during that game.

The next day, in Medicine Hat, the G-Men lost – in what marketing director Brendan Batchelor called a “heartbreaking fashion” – to the Tigers 5-4.

James Malm scored twice for Vancouver while Ty Ronning and Jack Flaman also bagged goals. Ryan Kubic made 35 saves in the Giants’ net.

The Tigers out shot the Giants 40-31. Vancouver was 1-for-5 on the power play.

Then, the G-Men wrap up their road trip Sunday afternoon against Cranbrook, falling 3-2 to the Kootenay Ice.

Tyler Popowich scored the Giants' two goals of the game and Vancouver out shot Kootenay 34-29, but it wasn't enough.

The Giants are back on home ice at the Langley Events Centre on Friday, Jan. 13, when they compete against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
